DISCOLYPSO QUESTIONNAIRE
What was the first record you can remember buying?
I remember buying the vinyl single of “Rockafeller Skank” in a small record store in Heidelberg, Germany in 1998. I was 11 years old that day.
If you could have the audio stems to any track what would it be?
Definitely the mute guitar tracks of all Micheal Jackson productions.
What was your first musical composition, edit or remix?
My first official release was on NEIN Records. I have had lessons in guitar, bass and drums starting when I was 12 but learned to play the piano autodidactically later. My first musical compositions in the electronic realm would have been putting together some sample loops on Magix Music Maker for Windows 95.
What song do you put on when you wake up or need to get cracking on with the day?
Usually, I put on “Klassik Radio” first thing. If there is a production I’m working on this would be my go-to choice of course!
How did you first discover Discolypso?
It must have been the “Yala Edit” – obviously. Since that, I’m happy to have a number of premieres on the channel one of them my remix of Tiempo De Maldad’s “Soufi” for Nein Records and even happier to join the Discolypso Family now.
Where are you most at peace?
If not jamming on an instrument then cooking a good dinner. Musical composition and cooking have many similarities. Alternatively, you’ll find me at peace in and at any kinds of waters, rivers, lakes and oceans.
If money and death was not a factor - who would play at your wedding or birthday - both live acts and djs?
No need for hype. I was incredibly impressed by a set Simple Symmetry delivered when I was playing with them as Pardon Moi in Saint Petersburg lately – I’d have them playing my birthday party for sure.
One of my favourite non-electronic live acts is a guy called “Lars Vegas” and his band – a highly talented vintage, blues and rock-n-roll musician. I have had a vintage band myself and we played many unforgettable shows at Wilde Renate back in the old days.
Which musical acts do you feel have not been dealt their fair hand in the annals of time?
Too many, the mainstream is saturated with casting bands for 70 years now, there might have been thousands of good musicians and producers that been not dealt fair with.
We all have our guilty pleasures… What song or Artist is do you play when nobody is around?!
La Macarena
What song do you put on when you want to relax?
As I produced a lot of “oriental style” tracks myself, I love these esoteric meditational’s and mantras from people like “Ananda Giri”, chants and prayers, favourably with a mystic touch
